The bulk solids and powder industry is constantly changing and two basic motivations are the driving force: the need to improve efficiencies; and the desire to automate the manufacturing process. Taylor Products brand of Magnum Systems has remained successful the past 47 years by adapting, creating and driving innovation in what is often described as a mature market. The people behind the products never rest because they know rent is due every day. I have been fortunate enough to experience this success first hand.
In 1997, I was hired to work in the assembly area. I was introduced to a world of valve bag and open mouth bag filling, ranging in technologies to transport and weigh a variety of products in the best means necessary for the exact application. Air packing, auger fill, vibratory trays, belt driven and gravity feed options to fill customized bags to a precise weight determined by either gross or net weigh specifications. Customers would come to our facility with a product and a need because rent is due every day.
Over the years, I have seen Taylor Products introduce everything from small tweaks of existing equipment to completely new technologies in a variety of markets. For example, the need for improved efficiencies with valve bag filling opened the door for new products. Taylor introduced ultra-sonic valve bag sealing technology (TRUSeal) to reduce leakage. The need to automate the manufacturing process with valve bags was met through collaboration with FANUC robotics to introduce the TRV1000…both of these were a first in the market, because rent is due every day.
The success of the robotic valve bag placer lead to collaboration with FANUC to provide a better robotic palletizer (TRP3000) to assist our customers with improved efficiencies and a more automated manufacturing process. More efficient palletizing led to a need for increased line speeds and Taylor Products was up to the challenge, introducing the RT7000 net weigh filler and the THP5500 high speed open mouth bag placer. Rent is due every day.
As we edge closer to 2016, I find myself in the position of Business Development and am excited to come into work every day, listen to the customers every day and work with great people to create every day. Create the next advancement, the newest integration or introduce a better service to a new market because we know…RENT IS DUE EVERY DAY.
