John Girgis Appointed Director of Engineering at Magnum Systems

Lenexa, KS - Magnum Systems is excited to welcome John Girgis as our new Director of Engineering.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in engineering across various industries, John now leads our teams in designing, quoting, and delivering projects more efficiently and strategically.

John’s career includes key leadership roles during major industry shifts, including the merger of Ingersoll Rand and Gardner Denver. His expertise in integrating acquisitions and scaling operations will be crucial as Magnum pursues its long-term growth targets. John’s background in automotive, defense contracting, and large capital equipment provides him with a unique perspective on building strong, scalable systems.

“I am focused on developing strategies that can seamlessly transition into tactical execution, enabling our internal teams to become better at what they do,” says John. His main message is clear: “We’re focused on helping the customer achieve their objectives. That is the heart of customer-centricity.”

As Director of Engineering, John will leverage universally accepted standards to streamline processes from start to finish. His goal is to transform Magnum from a custom shop into a system builder, delivering “tailored solutions using standardized machines.” This approach will increase throughput, shorten lead times, and improve margins while ensuring customers receive effective and efficient solutions.

“Customers mainly care about the outcome,” John explains. “They are less concerned with how their problem is solved, as long as the solution helps them achieve their objectives.”

To that end, he will refine the proposal process to better communicate value, focusing on opportunities with the highest likelihood of success and presenting proposals as high-level solutions tailored to decision-makers.

Over the next year, John will focus on building a strong foundation to support the company’s growth and ensure the entire organization works as a unified team. “It’s not them and us, it’s we,” he states, emphasizing the need for cross-functional collaboration to break down internal barriers.

John is a devoted husband and a proud father of three—a daughter and twin boys. He spends much of his time supporting his children’s activities, including coaching his sons’ flag football team. Besides family life, John is an accomplished competitive rifle shooter who regularly competes in 600- and 1000-yard matches across the country. His skill and dedication earned him an 8th-place finish at this year’s National Championship and helped set a National Record during a team event in 2024.
