Food production rarely stands still. Recipes change, SKUs multiply, and safety requirements tighten, often all at once. Systems that can’t keep up slow production and increase risk. Magnum Systems keeps inputs, batching, and processing aligned as conditions shift, so operations stay on track even under constant change.

We deliver custom solutions for food manufacturers like liquid batch processing, dry batch processing, extruded food products, dry ingredient inventory and handling, liquid ingredient inventory and handling, ingredient kitting and inventory management, allergen handling, cooked sauces, uncooked sauces and dressings, clean-in-place, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

We collaborate closely with food industry customers to design and deliver highly customized pneumatic conveying and packaging system solutions. Examples include:

Pneumatic Application – Malted Barley: This project included railcar discharge adapters, vacuum receivers, a PD blower, slide gates, and loadout spout.

  • The Material: Malted barley and hops
  • The Solution: Our customer needed premium ingredients for beer manufacturing by rail to achieve economies of scale but lacked a rail siding at the plant. Magnum provided equipment to vacuum unload the material at low velocities to avoid bruising or degradation and to transfer it to trucks for delivery at the plant. The material was vacuum unloaded from the cars using an adapter to avoid pits and transferred to filter receivers on a support stand, where it was gravity discharged into PD trucks via dustless loadout spouts, ensuring a clean, sanitary environment.

Packaging Application – Ingredient System: The customer needed to fill extra-tall bulk bags with cornmeal. The system needed to accommodate these bags and allow removal of the bags from a pallet using a hand truck. Current systems caused problems with the platform scale design, including difficulty cleaning and inaccurate weight readings. We recommended an IBC-3000 Bulk Bag fill station with a modified “traveling” weigh carriage design.

  • The Material: Cornmeal
  • The Solution: The customer liked the idea of our suspended weigh-and-fill design, with the load cells at the top of the framework, away from damage caused by forklift contact, and with no floor scale to clean under or move the hand truck onto. To install the long bags without the operator needing a ladder, Magnum Systems made the upper weigh carriage, bag-strap hangers, and neck seal movable, so they lower easily and ergonomically, allowing the operator to install the empty bag, and then rise to fill to weight.

Packaging Application – Peanut Processing: Upgrade existing weigh-feeding scales from outdated technology. Some of the issues included changing target weights on the old beam scale, which slowed production when switching between container sizes ranging from 25 lb bags to 2,200 lb bulk boxes. The current system had limited programming and process visibility for the current run, no indexing or saving of previous completed runs, and required manual quality samples, which required operators to stop production, take a sample, then restart the filling process, slowing overall production capabilities.

  • The Material: Legumes (In-Shell and Shelled Peanuts)
  • The Solution: Magnum Systems provided upgraded net-weigh filling scales with PLC controls to increase production. Simple control calibration between target weights, automatic product sampling, and centralized controls to monitor process, runs completed, container types filled, samples taken, individual container weights, number of rejects, and lot run start-stop times significantly improved the packaging process.
