Magnum Systems History

History you can measure in uptime, not anniversaries.

1960

Smoot Company

Since 1960, Smoot Company—a Magnum Systems brand—has engineered reliable pneumatic conveying systems that keep production floors running smoothly. Our decades of experience have produced a proven lineup of custom industrial solutions, including the Airlift Railcar Discharge Adapter, Rotary Airlock Cavity Purge System, and Slide Diverter Valve. As a trusted, single-source partner, we design and integrate comprehensive pneumatic conveying systems and components tailored to your specific operational needs. Whether you require dense and dilute phase conveying or robust railcar and truck unloading systems, our equipment is built to handle the world’s most abrasive materials while preventing costly downtime. Backed by an expert engineering and service team, we deliver seamless integration, reliable designs, and successful installations for manufacturing operations worldwide.

1973

Taylor Products, Co.

Taylor Products, a Magnum Systems brand, has been engineering bulk material handling solutions for over six decades. Founded by Murland “Mike” Taylor in Parsons, Kansas, the company began as the Taylor Seed Company in the 1960s before expanding into the design of mechanical beam-scale baggers — equipment that set the standard for accuracy and durability in the industry

That founding philosophy still drives every product we build. Taylor Products offers a comprehensive line of equipment for valve bags, open-mouth bags, and bulk bags, each designed to translate real operational challenges into practical, reliable machine solutions. What started in the agricultural market has since expanded across a broad range of industrial sectors, with equipment trusted by commercial operations of all sizes.

Today, Magnum provides both standard and custom equipment configurations to meet the specific demands of your production environment. Rather than asking you to adapt your line to fit our products, we work the other way around — listening to your requirements and building solutions that fit the way you operate.

1977

ECS Solutions (Magnum Acquired in 2025)

ECS Solutions, a Magnum Systems brand, was founded in 1977 to provide control and information system solutions, initially to the demanding aluminum manufacturing industry. Since then, the company has expanded to deliver batch and continuous process control solutions to a wide range of manufacturing companies. After more than four decades of developing batch process control systems using a total process automation approach, ECS has the experience and expertise it takes to build powerful, high-performing plants that produce high-quality yields.

ECS offices across the country provide an advantage by making sure every project team includes an ECS project lead. This results in better-run projects that enable ECS to attain the goal of a quality project delivered on time and on budget. ECS provides turnkey solutions and partners with other automation suppliers, OEMs, system integrators, and engineering firms.

2001

Magnum Systems

Since 2001, Magnum has consistently driven innovation in our custom integrated systems and manufacturing solutions for bulk material handling and packaging. We are committed to continually developing leading-edge products and technologies.

Our complete, start-to-finish systems integration offering positions us as a leader in serving industries such as food processing, agriculture, chemicals, and industrial manufacturing with a holistic approach. Magnum ensures smooth and consistent material movement with reliable pneumatic and conveying solutions, while ECS adds state-of-the-art precision through automation and manufacturing execution systems. With Magnum, manufacturers can confidently tackle their most daunting challenges, such as reducing waste and enhancing process controls.

As a systems integrator, we do more than sell equipment; we design and combine various components—such as conveyors, scales, and packaging machines—into a single, smooth, and optimized workflow. This process, often driven by automation, leverages technology to perform repetitive tasks with minimal human intervention, dramatically increasing efficiency, accuracy, and throughput in your bulk material handling and packaging operations. By integrating these automated processes, we create a seamless, reliable system that turns raw parts into a powerful, unified solution for your specific needs.
